As it turns out, nothing was stolen. Read the third update after this one to find out how bad my memory is. I’ll leave everything below to remind me.
Last Friday (December 5th), I was at a friend’s house, and stupidly left my backpack in the livingroom for maybe well over an hour while my friend, someone else, and I, were in my friend’s room. Before going leaving the livingroom, my digital camera’s batteries were getting low, so I checked my Gameboy case for more batteries, but there were just the same dead ones in there.
Fast forward seven days, it’s a Thursday, and my mother and I are going to stop by the new house that my family will be moved into by January. A lot of my stuff’s packed in the van, and I decided to get my GBA SP and Pokemon Sapphire to play. I still need to get PokeRus spread around, since having gotten it from Pokemon Rocks America. I also need to train all those many Pokemon I’ve traded for. And the new house is an hour’s drive away, so that’s two hours total to train.
I opened the Gameboy case. The GBA SP with Sapphire weren’t in there. I figured I put them in another pocket. No, not there, and all my games are gone. Let’s figure what I know was in there, ignoring what I forgot about:
- Pokemon Red English
- Pokemon Blue English
- Pokemon Yellow English
One of the above has a level 5 Mew from a mall tour. Yes, an official one. I still have the certificate.
- Pokemon Gold English
- Pokemon Silver English
- Pokemon Crystal English
Pokemon Crystal English (yes, I had two English ones.)I had 16 official Celebi from the Six Flags Magic Mountain event. I was there with Incompetent and Yay Porygon, two great people. I don’t recall if I traded for any Pokemon from Incompetent, but I had gotten at least a shiny Pichu and a shiny Wobbuffet from Yay Porygon. Those Pokemon are gone now. So is PokeRus and my Shiny Raticate (it was caught a Raticate, not Rattata).
- GBA SP (Cobalt Blue)
- Pokemon Sapphire
I did a LOT of trading recently. At the Pokemon Rocks America, I got the PokeRus from people that were part of the event. I had the Eon Ticket (I don’t have an e-card reader, so I couldn’t get it again). All those Pokemon, the PokeRus, and all the secret bases, are lost. I had a secret base of someone from near Los Angeles or somewhere, and from someone from over in Mesa, Arizona. And Pokemon from both of these people. They’re gone, now, too.
- Harvest Moon 3 GBC
Turns out this was hidden in the carry case with the two Japanese games. Now if only I had a GBC or GBA to play it on…
- Donkey Kong GB
- Maybe other games
And what wasn’t taken? These two, thankfully:
- Pokemon Yellow Japanese
- Pokemon Crystal Japanese
Someone out there has my GBA SP. With a low battery. And when that battery dies, I still have the plug to charge it up. Haha. I do need that last laugh, because I’ll surely never see those Pokemon that I got from faraway friends, ever ever again.
I enjoy web development and programming, and answering questions about Pokemon when I can, but I’ve lost motivation. It’ll be a while before I do serious work on Pokemon Forever. Tonight I was going to find out why the Pokedex claims that Meowth can learn Fly via HM. But, I don’t think I’ll do anything serious on Pokemon Forever this month or the next. Maybe I will. I don’t know. I don’t think I’ll be answering any questions related to Pokemon over Instant Messenger. Please, don’t ask me Pokemon questions for a while. I just walk to talk to close friends, about non-Pokemon things for a while.
I don’t know who took my things. I don’t want to blame any member of my friend’s family, because I don’t believe any of them would steal from me. And I don’t want to believe it. Friends of them that are in and out, however, people that I don’t know, people that might see a backpack sitting there, with no one around… Am I mad at whoever took it? No, I don’t get mad. But, I am disappointed. Disappointed in people. Every time I try to trust in people, this happens to me. Every time I begin to open up, and feel that I can rely on others and trust others, this happens to me. I often joke about how my life goal is to live on an island, with no other humans, just a lot of cats and those huge Galapagos turtles. Even though I joke about it, that idea definitely has a solid foundation.
I need to pack more things to take to the new house on Saturday. From now ‘til then and from there on, I don’t need anyone saying that they’re sorry that my things were taken. I don’t need anyone talking to me about Pokemon for a while. I don’t need anyone telling me all these “great things” that Microsoft is doing “better than open source software and Linux”. I don’t need to hear about sites that copy & paste from Pokemon Forever. I don’t need to hear about other web sites that are foolishly “competing” with Pokemon Forever, even though Pokemon Forever’s just a hobby site.
On the drive up to the new house, my mother pointed out open fields that had burned in the wild fires that southern California had earlier this year. Seeing all those fields of black, burnt brush reminded me that a lot of people lost their homes in the fires. A lot of people lost everything they owned. A lot of people lost loved ones. I don’t need anyone telling me that they’re sorry about my losing some games. I just needed to type up all this.
