Mixed Emotions: Bad but Mostly Good

Posted on December 11, 2003

I knew my best friend wouldn’t take my games. That was never a question. I knew his younger brother wouldn’t take them. That was never a question. But with as many people going in and out of the house, and other things that I won’t go into…A little over a week ago, I placed all my Pokemon and other GB games with my floppy disks and zip disks and CDs, so I wouldn’t forget to pack them. So I wouldn’t forget. And what do I do? I forget. I feel bad because I thought that they were stolen while i was at a friend’s house. A house with a lot of people going in and out. The whole time, I kept feeling like I still had my games, like they weren’t gone. I figured it was some minor form of denial. But, as it turns out, they were here in my room all along, hidden beneath disk after disk after disk.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words while I thought over $400 worth of stuff, and countless priceless memories, were gone. And no thanks for those that used this opportunity to post profanity in comments and IMs, as if to kick me while I was down. And thanks to my friend and his family for not having ill will toward me, while I was saying that my games were missing, and that it might have happened while I was at their house. I’m just so glad that I didn’t believe that any one of them would take my things, and in turn I didn’t accuse anyone. I even did my best to assure my friend’s brother that I knew he wouldn’t steal from me. I’m glad I had faith in my friend and his family in a time when my poor memory let me to stuypidly thinking my things were stolen.

Anyone that knows me knows that my memory is very, very poor. Very. Thanks to everyone that was there for me, thanks to my friend and his family for being good sports. I suggest everyone take a moment out of their day, sometime soon, and play Pokemon, and think of all the good times you’ve had with it. If you’ve traded for Pokemon, train some of them, and think about when you got that Pokemon. If you’ve been to any Pokemon events, remember the good times you’ve had. In the meantime, I’ll be feeling very foolish, but I’ll be back to work as usual.
