That one page with the multiplayer screens ( [ link ] (www.pokemon.co.jp) ) seems to suggest that you can only play as Pikachu, and the other Pokemon (Torchic, Bulbasaur, Etc.) can only be controlled by the computer. Indeed, quite a disappointment to anyone who got excited about being able to play as any Pokemon in existance -_-

I never believed that it would be possible to race with every Pokemon.
How would huge Pokemon like Onix, Flying Pokemon like Pidgey, and Water type Pokemon like Magikarp race on those tracks, after all?
No, I always knew that the raceable Pokemon available would consist only of all of the “popular” small Pokemon like Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Marill.

That’s bad news…. since I hate Pikachu ^^U.
I hoped I could be able to ride a T-tar and smash that little Pikachu, but not ^^U.

As long as I can be Mudkip or Bulbasaur I’ll be happy. Of course, I’ll probably also be happy even if I can only be Pikachu, just significantly less happy. …Oh, and look! Preview works properly! Wonderful!

A little off topic, but I’m wondering…will all games on the DS use the stylus/touch screen, or is it just some? i mean, for pokemon dash it’s pretty much the whole game that it’s used for. but maybe there are some smaller things in other games?
also, the games where it does use it, is that the only way to play? I can’t see it working well if you could use the d-pad for a game like pokemon dash, considering the speed you slide the stylus across the screen determines how fast you go (i think?). But are there maybe some games that you can play either way?
or does no one know these things yet…?

Well, it all depends on the DS game itself.
With Super Mario 64 DS, you can either choose to use the Control Pad for digital controls, or you can use the touch screen for analog controls (the touch screen is analog. It can sense different amounts of pressure, huh!). The latter provides a more natural control like that in the original N64 game.
And you don’t have to use the stylus, either. The system comes packaged with a “thumb shoe” so that you can use your thumb on the touch screen without smudging it up, huh!

Interesting. Thanks for the info. ha, thumb shoe! Good idea though. I think I’d rather use that than a stylus, since it seems less likely to scratch up the screen.

There goes my hopes of ever racing as Blastoise. :’(
Any word on Squirtle making an appearnance?
I hope one does not damage the touch screen by showing extreme passion on playing that game… scratch oops
