Pokedex Level Up

Posted on 03 Feb 2005

I’ve updated the site Pokedex. Its layout now matches that of the main site.

I haven’t yet tried recovering the full update.

So that explains why it wouldn’t look up Shellder. =)

Hi, looking alright. Dunno if you know this “minor bug”, but if you look up a Pokémon, to go the Trainer-section, and look at the Battle Tower, there is a black border missing under the Heading of the table.

Can’t wait to work on a translation for this! ^_^

What happened to the Colo Pics????

By Melkor on Feb. 4th, 2005 at 2:49 PM

I suppose the Spanish translation hasn’t been enabled yet. ^_^

Good catch on the missing border – it’s been fixed. The Colosseum images I removed because they’re really out-of-place with black backgrounds and I never got around to figuring out how to get the transparency to be correct.

As for the Spanish translation, is it not listed on the Pokedex’s main page and in the options as a choice for “Select Language”?

By Melkor on Feb. 4th, 2005 at 11:30 PM

Well, at least I see “Espa</div></div>

By Melkor on Feb. 4th, 2005 at 11:32 PM

Ooops, our little Spanish letter doesn’t seem to be admitted here ^_^… just changed it for (n)

Well, at least I see “Espa(n)ol” in that list, but when I chose it and pushed the botton it didn’t change to Espa(n)ol, it became English again. Perhaps it’s a problem of my PC, but before this change the translation worked perfectly.

Could Meowth take new colo pics or Moving pics of pokemon?

By Anonymous on Feb. 5th, 2005 at 1:43 AM

BTW some of the Pokémon flavor text is still in english.

By ANinyMouse on Feb. 5th, 2005 at 2:40 AM

I don’t see “Espa ol”, but “Espa</div></div>

By Meowth346 on Feb. 5th, 2005 at 6:09 AM

I do need to fix the comment section so it can take unicod characters properly. I hacked things together to keep on from being able to exploit security measures, and unicode characters were a casualty…

The Colosseum images I don’t plan on putting back up anytime time soon.

The flavor text, I should have an e-mail sitting in my inbox with the flavor text in other languages. I’ll have to check for that.

As for the Spanish not working, is this in Firefox? What if you click on the “Pokemon” link and load a Pokemon’s page? A lot of sections (mostly search interface) still need to be made translatable.

By Melkor on Feb. 6th, 2005 at 12:28 AM

It is Firefox. It works perfectly now, thanks.

ANinyMouse, it seems to have cut the entire message from the (n), I just copied the same message in the next post.

There’s a bug that disables looking up Farfetch’d - I guess you’re escaping the apostrophe…. Can you look at that?

By Meowth346 on Feb. 6th, 2005 at 6:04 AM

Oops, I forgot to upload an updated file, so searches for Farfetch’d aren’t working. I’ll fix that asap.

By Clear on Feb. 9th, 2005 at 12:37 AM

This layout is nice… ^_^ easy to navigate and stuff.

Same problem with Farfech’d w/ me, and You cannot type Mr. Mime, you have to type Mr.Mime.

umm… mewoth, i need a personal use on those Collos icons (the full ones that shows up on the box) I don’t like using the gba spites at all. Do you mind sending those to me?

By Meowth346 on Feb. 9th, 2005 at 7:00 AM

Clear, are you able to contact me via AIM or MSN Messenger? Or maybe an e-mail to meowth346@gmail.com about it.

Farfetch’d /should/ be working by now. As for Mr.Mime, it doesn’t have a space in its name, but I /do/ need to get it working again so you can typo/misspell a name and still have that Pokemon’s page load.

By baratron on Feb. 10th, 2005 at 12:51 AM

Wooh. I much prefer this new layout. Easier to find things :)

The only correction I’d make is that Pokemon which have no Location (because they can only be obtained by level-up) load an empty page when you click on Location. I found this a bit confusing (I thought perhaps the section wasn’t ready yet). It would be better to have one line of text on that page explaining that “this Pokemon cannot be caught, it must be obtained by evolving [link to previous evolution name]”. imo, of course :)

By Meowth346 on Feb. 10th, 2005 at 3:01 AM

baratron, that’s definitely on my TODO list. That’s one of the next things I need to do.

By Clear on Feb. 10th, 2005 at 5:29 AM

ummm… something is wrong w/ Meganium’s entry.

[ link ] (pokefor.greenchu.de)

She can learn fly now? o.o

is there anything else wrong with any entries tho? I just want to know if Meganium can learn Ingain…

By Meowth346 on Feb. 10th, 2005 at 6:03 AM

Okay, that’s weird, the version of the Pokedex on my computer is just fine and the version online gives Megaium Fly… I’ll look into this. Thanks for pointing it out!

By Meowth346 on Feb. 10th, 2005 at 6:07 AM

Aha, I failed to upload the new and improved functions/extractLearn.php file. I’ll upload that and other function files, in case any others are outdated.
