Evidence shows that the next Pokemon movie, starring Lucario and Mew, may introduce three more new Pokemon.
I haven’t yet tried recovering the full update.

Not my discovery on the “three new Pokemon” – I’m just linking it to the names ZhenLin and I found and I posted previously ^_^
By Arty2 on Mar. 6th, 2005 at 9:58 PM
Then I recall, congrats to the original contributors :)
I just hope Pokemon A-C are not the Regis -_-
By Catti on Mar. 6th, 2005 at 10:19 PM
Hmmm…Intresting…
I doubt they’re the Regis, though possible, if they put up Rukario’s name, wouldn’t they put up the names of the Regis too?
By Jynxie on Mar. 6th, 2005 at 10:43 PM
I doubt that they’re the Regis, as they say NEW for each of the fastener things. I’m pretty sure that they wouldn’t call the Regis “NEW” Pokemon. –;;

COOL! I hope it’s the three names Meowth already said! Any estimates for when they’ll be revealed?
By Unown Lord on Mar. 6th, 2005 at 10:54 PM
Arty2, not only does the site explicitly state “new Pokemon”, but also the Regis do not appear to be featured in the movie (even though last month’s CoroCoro magazine clearly suggested that). They are nowhere to be found in the trailer or poster of the movie. In Lugia’s case, when it was revealed to be the mysterious “Pokemon X” (which, very similarly, was not right after the movie’s announcement), Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres were showcased alongside it in the trailer. In contrast, now that Lucario has been properly revealed, it is the two armies of warrior Pokemon and the new villain that may be found next to it (along with Mew, needless to say). If the Regis were also to appear, it would be by far over the top compared to the other movies.
The debut of three additional new Pokemon, however, will be fairly reasonable. The following is a quote of my own comment in the recent update regarding Usohachi, Manene and Manyula:
“Although it is not guaranteed, these three probable candidates for new Pokemon should be announced in the near future. I can only expect them to fill the same role as Munchlax did last year in the seventh movie–although there was no Pikachu Short, the appearance of Munchlax in the movie constituted the same idea. In the upcoming movie, Munchlax will star next to Pikachu as what appears to me the secondary mascot (Plusle and Minun filled that role in the seventh movie, but Munchlax seems to be serving it permanently from now on), and so the role of new Pokemon whose appearance in the movie constitutes as the Pikachu Short is only to be expected. These could be those Pokemon (Lucario, on the other hand, is undoubtedly a main character in the movie, comparable to Lugia and Latias/Latios).”

All we need now are pictures of these three new Pokemon, and I don’t expect that to happen anytime soon.
By Jynxie on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 1:00 AM
I’d expect to see AT LEAST one of the three new ones next month at the earliest. Hm…one of the three new Pokemon released every month leading up to the movie’s release….A brilliant strategy….

Hey, Meowth, I’m using Firefox but cannot figure out what encoding I should use to make any of the Japanese writing on the site work beyond a bunch of question marks. Any advice?
Thanks.
By dCR on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 1:38 AM
“Manyula” could also just be a counterpart for Sneasel… like Pinsir (kairosu) and Heracross (herakairosu) or something like that
By Animelee on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 2:47 AM
Kairos (KAIROSU in Katakana) and Heracross (same name in Japanese and English) (HERAKOROSU in Katakana). ^^
I’m just thinking that Usohachi is a pre-evolution for Usokki (Sudowoodo), and Manene and Manyura are somehow related, either as “twins” like Plusle and Minun, or one evolves into another.
By Animelee on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 2:51 AM
Looking at those trademarks, like Juptor (Grovyle) was going to be called “Jumori” at first.
By Anonymous on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 2:59 AM
What do usohachi and usokki mean? I think an evolution of sudowoodo would be better because sudowoodo already looks like a sapling, but that’s just me.
By Afriscot on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 4:08 AM
Is it possible that Usohachi, Manyula, and Manene are the names for the next three Starters, perhaps?

When’s the next Coro Coro going to be released? Since they announced there will be 3 new pokemon in the new movie, I don’t think it will be long before they’re revealed.
Just like Rukario. Wasn’t it a week later then it was revealed?
By PurpleKecleon on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 6:32 AM
I thought the shadow was revealed a pretty long time ago… a couple of weeks? 2 or 3?
By Zhen Lin on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 8:56 AM
The silhouette was revealed on February 12th or so.
The actual release to public was February 15th.
As for Trip’s Japanese problems - encoding is UTF-8 - check whether you have the fonts instead. (For WXP and W2K: Control Panel > Regional & Language > Advanced > Install support for East Asian languages)
By Meowth346 on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 2:40 PM
Trip, if you mean for my page, it’s UTF-8, as Zhen Lin said. If you mean the Japanese site with the picture on it, that would be Shift_JIS. Since a lot of Japanese sites aren’t set for their proper encoding, I set Firefox’s encoding on “Auto Detect Japanese” and it gets by. Until I hit an English site without setting the encoding, in which case The accented “e” and following letter in “Pokemon” comes out as “Pok[]on” as it gets auto-detected as Japanese…

Not that I’m doubting you, Unown Lord, bu where does this image come from? [ link ] (www.serebii.net)
And with that picture, it shows a picture of Phanpy. Does that mean phanpy is going to be in the movie? Everyone else (besides the charmander example picture) is in the movie, so would phanpy be?
Anyways, it’s looking like a LOT of pokemon are in this movie (excluding the ones in the climatic battle scenes).
By Doctor Oak on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 4:18 PM
Um… There’s no Phanpy in that picture. (Which is from the last Coro Coro by the way)
Looking back at that picture now with hindsight from the trailer - it looks like the Tree of Origin is up in that mountain behind the Regis. Maybe they will be making an appearence as Guardians of it or something?
A crappy bit-part, probably in there as streniously as Rayquaza pushed itself into the last movie but it wouldn’t surprise me.
Then again, the article that went with the picture did describe them as ‘Running Amok’ which wouldn’t suggest they were guarding the Tree, rather just destroying everything.
It’s all rather confusing and it should be interesting to learn more on the movie - especially concerning the Regis, whether they are still in it or have been mysteriously dropped.
By Jynxie on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 4:26 PM
Um….There’s a Phanpy in the fastener pic with the three unknown Pokemon.
By Unown Lord on Mar. 7th, 2005 at 4:52 PM
Yes, I did state that their absence in the movie would refute the artwork which was featured in the CoroCoro magazine. Having said that, the poster and the trailer come directly from the official source, and both dictate that the role of the Regis is replaced by that of other characters. You may notice that the aforementioned artwork does not appear to be official, but rather the magazine’s rendition of the given information. This reminds me of CoroCoro’s rendition of the apprentice in Emerald’s Battle Frontier, a boy with his Vulpix next to Brendan, which turned out to be remote from the actual “apprentice” in the game (a computerized battle partner for the Battle Tower).
It is not very long after something new about an upcoming Pokemon game or movie is revealed in CoroCoro, or any other magazine for that matter, that one of the official sites is updated with the same information. When the magazine uses its own artwork, rather than Ken Sugimori’s artwork or screenshots from the new game (or, in the case of the movies, an artwork by the animators or a selected scene out of the movie), it indicates that they were only given partial information. Again, using the example of Emerald’s “apprentice”, it had not taken long until a screenshot of a Bug Catcher pairing up with the player in the Battle Tower was uploaded to the official site. Yet, people misinterpreted that piece of information due to CorcoCoro’s artwork, the result being that that they were surprised by the lack of an actual apprentice in the game. This appears to be a similar scenario, if not identical.

Ah, thanks Zhen. Now I see the Japanese.
By CyberDrew02 on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 12:34 AM
Okay, thanks for clearing that up! :)
By Anonymous on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 4:33 AM
I disagree about the possiblity that the Regis may not be involved at all.
I found this a few days ago: [ link ] (www.netkun.com)
By Meowth346 on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 6:13 AM
Additionally, at the movie’s site, the base of the mountain the tree is on does look like it has (ice?) crystals around it. Could be for Regice.
By Coronis on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 10:14 AM
Actually, I doubt that picture is a rendition of Corocoro, as various other magazines have featured that picture, including all the Shogakukan Year Grade monthly ones which have a different publisher from that of Corocoro.
As you can see in the link two posts above, this picture has been printed out as stickers (and even art boards, included in the Grade 4 magazine I just bought). While in the case of the Brendan and apprentice, I don’t recall seeing that drawing anywhere else other than in Corocoro.
By Zhen Lin on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 2:24 PM
Actually, Corocoro is published by Shogakukan, so…
By Coronis on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 4:34 PM
Really? :o never realized that. Well then, please disregard my previous post.
By Unown Lord on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 4:44 PM
I only have to add that the fact that the artwork was also shown in other Shogakukan magazines should not be considered as further evidence towards the Regis’ being in the movie. After all, it is the same publisher, and as far as I can see the artwork is merely altered to include other logos.
I am not suggesting that CoroCoro invented the Regis’ involvement in the movie, but rather that there could have been a change in plans. Lucario’s silhouette was uploaded to the official site shortly after the magazine’s release, following the usual pattern, but the Regis were nowhere to be mentioned. Even now, the poster, trailer and story section on the site completely disregard any connection these three Pokemon may have to the movie. You may recall that last year, news about Shadow Deoxys was posted in March’s CoroCoro magazine. The artwork shown by the magazine was clearly the creation of the studios, and indeed an army of Shadow Deoxys made it to the actual movie. This specific case is different in that the artwork is unusual and that the news had been posted before the new trailer and poster were uploaded.
One way or the other, there is little to no point to this argument. The release of the next CoroCoro magazine is nearing, and whether or not anything further is noted on the Regis will determine the answer to our question. I would think, though, that the rest of you would also like for the Regis to be given a more substantial role in the anime than what would appear to be a minor appearance equivalent to that of Shadow Deoxys.

fanart only?
By Jynxie on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 9:39 PM
Gubuh!!! BWEEE!!! Hurr….Um…wow…uh…if that’s a new Pokemon, then I think we can all agree that either the Game Freakers are on crack or that Pokemon designs are going in a new direction…
By Jynxie on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 9:41 PM
Sorry for the double post, but umm….Upon closer inspection, I think that that pic might be fake (duh), becuase look at the person who posted it. They put “PSYCHE!” at the end of their post, indicating that this Pokemon is fake…So, it’s just fanart, yes…
By Ledian_X on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 10:16 PM
Thank God that’s a fake. I mean..I almost went to make an icon of that thing. Can someone confirm or deny this thing and then we can hunt that guy down?
Annyway, back on topic..3 new pokemon? Cool! Can’t want to make icons! Maybe now I should put icons of the 4th gen on my site.
By rahul91 on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 11:16 PM
i hope the pokemon are starters, even though i highly doubt that
Once again they’re leaking information… Nice discovery Meowth.
