Seems there’s a new Nintendo event.
I haven’t yet tried recovering the full update.

The PokePark looked surprisingly underwhelming, though obviously I couldn’t enter, seeing as it wasn’t even open yet when I left Japan. Not as great a 1st prize as it seems. Though the trip to Japan would certainly be nice. Should go to the Japanese Pokemon Centers. From what I’ve heard, we had a much better range there as far as special goods go than the US ones do.
A pity they’ll never do something like this for Australia.
By nYoo on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 1:41 PM
I want to participate too :’(
By CyberDrew02 on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 1:43 PM
heheh, let me correct you, Mukashi: “….we had a much better range there as far as specials go than the US ONE DOES”
sorry, we only have one ^_^
I registered and got on the Tactics team. Anyone knows what this means? Are they breaking things down per Brain or per BF stadium?
By CyberDrew02 on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 2:09 PM
I also want to add that the top 4 players or whoever recieves the copy of Emerald - are they allowed to trade, or work with who they can catch in Emerald? Also, are legendaries able to be used?

I live in England! Why dont Nintendo do anything for US!?! I live in England! Why dont Nintendo do anything for US!?! I live in England! Why dont Nintendo do anything for US!?! I live in England! Why dont Nintendo do anything for US!?!
Sorry, but I am sooooo peed with this!!
By Kamon on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 6:06 PM
You’re not the only one living in England, you know. Sure, we may not get these chances, but yelling about it will only annoy yourself and others, without getting you an answer.
To be honest, I doubt we’ll ever get an answer…
Regardless, does Canada usually get a chance to participate in these Tournaments? If not, it will only be a matter of time before Nintendo broaden their events to Worldwide Nintendo fans. Hopefully.

Well, seems you can sign up for it now, according to a e-mail I got from Nintendo. I know I did, since I just finished registering for it (I hope they don’t mind that I’m 23.^^;)
And since there’s never really been any big Pokémon-related event on this corner of Canada I live in, I’m gonna try to put my best foot foreward. ^_^
I just need to put money on a pre-order for Emerald, though… > _>
And finally, I wonder if US FR/LG/E carts work with the Joy Spots there. ^^;
By ANinyMouse on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 6:14 PM
Actually, Canada has never gotten “in” on an American event before, to my knowledge. This is sweet.
Now, if only I wasn’t behind a firewall right now, I could visit your link, Chris ;-;

“Sorry, but I am sooooo peed with this!!”

By Arty2 on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 9:28 PM
I hope they didn’t choose Seattle because it rhymes with battle…
Oh well, here in Greece we get nothing… except Mew back in the R/B/Y generation.
By Melkor on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 9:35 PM
Nintendo still doesn’t make anything for me. Spain is the third world for videogamers.
Lucky you, anyway, enjoy it if you can go ^_^
By pokefuture on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 9:51 PM

Oh, I am SO signing up for this.

See ya in Seattle! (Let’s hope I don’t get egg on my face because of that statement…)
By Meowth346 on Mar. 8th, 2005 at 10:55 PM
CyberDrew02, let’s further correct it: “….we had a much better range there as far as specials go than the US ONE DID” – it’s becoming a Nintendo store rather than a Pokemon Center now.
Maxim: I do have nice artwork for all the Hoenn/Kanto players, enemy teams, Gym Leaders, and Frontier Brains, so maybe I’ll upload artwork for them sometime, but I’m not planning on it any time soon.

By Animelee on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 5:56 AM
I’m in the Ability Region.
By Meowth346 on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 6:10 AM
Spirit, Tactic, Ability, Knowledge – what else have people gotten?
By betbest1 on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 6:46 AM
I got Knowledge.
By GtrRaider84 on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 9:05 AM
I was assigned to the “Luck” division for those keeping track.
By GtrRaider84 on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 9:12 AM
So is this contest a series of Quizzes? Sory if this question has already been answered.
By Himawari on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 11:25 AM
Ppl have mentioned that Nintendo has ever kept any Pokemon events in their country.
Pretty much same goes for Finland.
We had Mew-take-away for RBY cartridges in November 2000 in one show center in capital, and there was only one download machine so the queue line of little Poke-fans with their GBs went at least once around the block outside in the street…yay.
Then it was about 12 months of quietness and Nintendo Finland held Pokemon Finland Championship for RBY players in late 2001, and there was 8 trial contests held in shopping centres and other public places around the country.
Winner got GBA and Pokemon Crystal if I don’t remember wrong. (Crystal wasn’t released in Finland officially at that time, it came available around March 2002)
My friend was working in that tour as commentator :)
We never got G/S tournament, and now FR/LG have been available here for 6 months and it looks like we are not going to get R/S tournament either.
We never got Celebi-take-away (like UK got Celebi Truck Tour or something), and the only way to get Jirachi here in Finland is to beat Pokemon Channel in GameCube and download Jirachi to the GBA cartridge.
They held Eon Ticket event last year, but it was made to happen really difficult way. First R/S players had to go into one gameshow to get a coupon which they then filled and mailed it to NoF office, and then they got notification through mail/e-mail that they suppose to send their R/S cartridge to the same address they send the coupon, so NoF ppl can upload Eon Ticket into the cartridge and send it back with mail.
I know, sounds really stupid, and that’s what it really is.
NOTE: They fixed the Berry Bush Bug at same time they added the Eon Ticket into the cartridge.
So Finland gets everything really late if not at all, and now it looks like we are not gonna get Emerald to Europe at all.
By ryujiikata on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 1:54 PM
Hm… I’ve gotten in the Brave region.
By nYoo on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 2:40 PM
“[…] and now it looks like we are not gonna get Emerald to Europe at all.”
What makes you say that? Pokemon Emerald was mentioned in the german Pokemon Newsletter, so that means Nintendo of Europe is going to release Emerald in Europe.
But Finland doesn’t seem to be part of NoE for some reason, atleast you can’t choose Finland at [ link ] (www.nintendo-europe.com)
That’s weird. So Finland seems to have its own Nintendo which surprises me. Well I hope Nintendo of Finland will release Emerald.
By Meowth346 on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 2:50 PM
As I suspected, it follows the symbols in Emerald: Ability, Tactics, Spirit(s), Guts, Knowledge, Luck, and Brave. This is an early chance to see which ones have different names.
By nYoo on Mar. 9th, 2005 at 2:52 PM
Sorry for double-post, but I just found out that Nintendo Games in Finland are published by a different company. This means Finland is not a main country of Nintendo of Europe, but they seem to still get the NOE games, same as Switzerland and Austria get all the NOE Games, published by each a different Company which works together with NOE.
So this means Finland should get Emerald, too.
But you’re right, Himawari, countries like Finland, Switzerland and Austria don’t or atleast get very few and small Events. People from USA shouldn’t complain as they are Number two after Japan when it comes to Events, in my opinion.
By Pokefuture on Mar. 10th, 2005 at 12:37 AM
I’m iN The Ability Team Too!
By Himawari on Mar. 10th, 2005 at 4:24 PM
Nintendo of Finland is part of NoE but is not. I cannot explain it better in english, sorry. Mostly independent, juridically not.
NoE took everything Emerald-related out of their webpages in UK, Germany and France in last month. Have they now put the infos back, or was the newsletter older one which was released before Emerald-related infos were swept away from NoE webpages?
Yes, company called AMO is the importer of Nintendo games in Finland. Before 2001 it was one other company which name I cannot remember anymore. AMO also imports over 50% of all the toys sold in Finland, mostly the brand toys that are popular in USA same time.
I hope we get Emerald.
By Himawari on Mar. 10th, 2005 at 4:37 PM
NOTE:
If you mean that Finland is not part of NoE’s “official countries” cause there is no “Finland” in the Choose Language list, yes, there is no Finland listed cause videogames are released as english versions here in Finland. Same goes for all other Scandinavian countries, there’s no any of these 5 countries in the list.
Looks like all other languages of Europe are listed there. And there is spoken unique language in every Scandinavian country so I think they release videogames as english versions everywhere here in Scandinavia.
The official webpage of Nintendo Finland is:
[ link ] (www.nintendo-fi.com)
(no english translation, sorry)
Looks like the N-A winner gets a trip to PokePark, Nagoya (Japan) this summer. Yay o/
What protocol they are gonna use for online battles? Flash-animated PokeBBS battle engine?
In Seattle, they are propably using Pokemon Colosseum and video-shooter with canvas.
