New Shadows

Posted on 12 Mar 2005

Usahachi and Friends, are these Manene (マネネ), Usohachi (ウソハチ), and Manyula (マニューラ), the names this site revealed a month ago?

I haven’t yet tried recovering the full update.

I get some kind of Access error, think it’s about the image not found, when trying to view the japanese image?

Although, I can easily imagine a baby form of Sudowoodo ^_^

Sorry for double post - works now…

By Meowth3465 on Mar. 12th, 2005 at 11:01 PM

If you get the error, hold Shift and click on Reload again, or try again later. Should come up eventually.

By GrnMarvl13 on Mar. 12th, 2005 at 11:13 PM

I can definitely see that as a baby Sudowoodo. The other two look familiar…but I can’t figure out why.

From the looks of it…this may end up being a real cutesy generation., or at the very least we’ll see more babies than we’ve seen since GSC.

By Himawari on Mar. 12th, 2005 at 11:24 PM

Am I the only one who sees that middle silhuetto as Sudowoodo-style walking branch? :D

Now that I think, “manene” can be related to jellyfishes cause, if I am not wrong, one kind of jellyfish is called “manet” or “manete”. The right one looks like a jellyfish (a baby Tentacool?)

Then left one is maybe Manyula. The silhuetto looks like a giant Tamagotchi/Digimon poop actually :P

Everytime when new Pokémons are soon to be released it’s like this. They show first silhuettos and we fans have too many butterflies in our stomaches =)

By PurpleKecleon on Mar. 12th, 2005 at 11:39 PM

That’s what I was going to say! About Usohachi! The second I saw it, I thought to myself, “This is definitely the baby Sudowoodo!”

But, as for the other two, I think they look REALLY… odd… I’ll probably not really like them at first, then grow accustomed to them. I think the one silhouette looks like icecream o_o; The other one looks like some little guy with two decently sized arms and legs but a huge head which is probably flat or something (in most parts).

Oh well, we’ll see when we see.

By Trip on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 12:58 AM

The one on the right looks an awful lot like a Smeargle…

By Trip on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 1:34 AM

Sorry for the double-comment, but after staring at the left one for a long time, three possibilities came into my head.

  1. Ditto

  2. Misdreavus

  3. Brand new

By Usagi Hasano on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 2:26 AM

I keep thinking ‘Sneasel’ when I look at the left pokemon. Maybe it’s the feather-like thing on it’s head. Since sneasel aslo looks like it has a feather-like thing on it’s head.

Sneasel—Nyuura

Left shadow could be Manyula (‘L’ or ‘R’, it’s pronounced the same anyway ^_^).

By Seikichi on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 2:30 AM

The left shadow reminds me of the Grinch’s head from ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’. That, as well as the Atlanta Braves baseball team’s mascot’s head.

By nYoo on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 2:33 AM

The one in the middle looks like kinokoko with a branch/hand of usokki on its head. o_o

By adamgnome on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 4:37 AM

Nah, there’s just a few new babies in each generation (to whoever said this may be the generation with most baby pokemon) There have only been 4 so far. :P

BUT OMG A BABY SUDOWOODO! hyperventilates

I don’t really care what they look like, I’m to busy hyperventilating.

By CyberDrew02 on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 4:37 AM

The one on the right reminds me of a Maya Headress. The one on the left - I don’t know, too ??? to get a good visualization.

Remember when people thought Zigzagoon was a fish??

Middle’s definitely Sudowoodo prevo.

Looks like they are trying to make realistic pokemon eggs (i.e. prevos of giant pokemon like snorlax). All that’s needed now is an Onix prevo and the Kangaskhan baby.

By Animelee on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 5:22 AM

Usohachi is definitely a pre-evolution of Usokki.

Manene and Manyula are weird, they kind of remind me of Ralts! My friend loves weird-looking Pokémon, he’s definitely going to love Manene and Manyula.

By Woopert on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 5:31 AM

Generation IV having the most Pre-Evs? Let’s see here…

Generation II: Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby. That’s 7.

Generation III: Azurill and Wynaut. That’s 2.

So far, Generation IV has one confirmed pre-evolution (Munchlax) and three possible pre-evolutions. This would be more pre-evs in Generation III, but fewer than Generaion II.

Anyway, if that creature in the middle IS Usohachi AND Sudowoodo’s PRE-evolved form, I’ll be a bit disappointed. I was hoping Usohachi would evolve FROM Sudowoodo. :P

Of course, pre-evs aren’t necessarily a bad thing, as long as they have something to benefit their evolved forms, such as Wynaut learning Encore.

Now, as for the Kangaskhan baby, somehow I doubt they’ll ever have that as a seperate Pokémon. -_-

By PurpleKecleon on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 5:49 AM

Hmm, that’s an idea, the right one looking like a Smeargle. Perhaps his head is a paintbrush?

By Meowth346 on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 6:46 AM

Keep in mind that the outer two may not be named Manene and Manyula. Those names might not be used or might go to two other Pokemon.

By adamgnome on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 7:44 AM

It’s possible that Manene and Manyula are 2 forms of different pokemon, or counterparts like Minune and Pulsie or even the two legendaries of this game.

But I would say that even if they are evovled from eachother, the two on each side of Usohachi would make most sense asn Manene and Manyula, because they were all the most recently trademarked Pokemon, and some of the only new ones showing up in the movie.

By Jynxie on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 8:51 AM

Hm…I think that Manene evolves into Manyula. Or the other way around…whichever makes sense. That is, if in fact the two names turn out to be the other two Pokemon. BTW, does anyone know a rough translation of Manene and Manyula?

By Leafer on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 8:54 AM

I knew these sihoulettes would be released to the public soon. Now, it’ll be a matter of days before it’s true pictures are revealed.

By greengiant on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 9:55 AM

I keep getting 403 forbidden. :(((

By Himawari on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 11:46 AM

I think Manene and Manula (Manyula) aren’t actually japanese. They sound more like spanish-to-be names like Lotad-evos japanese names (Hasubo, Hasubrero, Runpappa).

This is how the shadow in the middle looks to me o.op

By Erez on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 3:01 PM

Does anyone have name suggestions?

I think Sudobudo is cool (Pseudo + Bud).

By Damien on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 4:05 PM

I think the middle one is most probably (never say definitely) a Sudowoddo pre-evo, although why it gets a pre-evo over the likes of others is beyond me. He can only really be all-rock type again, but perhaps he might learn an interesting new move as a baby.

SIGH That baby Kanghaskhan will never be represented as a pokemon.

Well as for the others they might well be newbies, but the inclusion of more pre-evos than GSC is unlikely - there were only loads of pre-evos then to define some of the 150 originals - perhaps we’ll get a shocker and have pre-evo’s for the likes of Tropius or Absol. And anyways, what about further evolutions of the 380-somethings? Perhaps we’ll have more trade-with-items evolutions like Scizor, which will give a new dimension to one of the oldies, like they did will Politoed.

Damien.

By Damien on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 4:09 PM

Sorry for double post, this might sound weird but doesn’t the oneon the left look like Sentret? A pre-evo would be weird but is it out of the question??

By LadyWolf on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 4:12 PM

Been talking with a friend about these. Here’s what we see or think when seeing the shadows.

  1. The one on the left: Reminds me of Pupu, the alien from Final Fantasy 8. I’m thinking stand alone.

  2. The one in the middle: Possibly a Sudo premie. Yet also thought about the Ralts line. It looks like it has the same type of “dress” on as Gardevoir.

  3. The one on the right: We’re thinking a branch off from Hoppip. Kind of like Bellossom. Go from Hoppip to Skiploom and then to this instead of Jumpluff. Take Skiploom, raise the petals as if the flower is going to close for the “hair” and then add a body underneath how it already looks. Think of Natu to Zatu. Natu basically became Zatu’s head and they added a body. Possibly using a leaf stone or sun stone. Just a thought like anything else.

By Damien on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 4:44 PM

manyula: if you look into the “nyula” part, it you find out that nyula is part of the scentific name for a mongoose. New pokemon perhaps, or maybe a Sneasel variation?

By Melkor on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 5:06 PM

The one in the middle is definitely a Sudowoodo pre-evo, something like a bonsai (so the body must be like that)

The other ones I think they are newbies, can’t see any relation to any existing Pkmn, at least ^_^U

By DoctorOak on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 5:11 PM

Why is it that every-time a new Pokemon is announced the whole fan-community falls over themselves trying to relate them to other Pokemon.

Not every Pokemon is related… I don’t see why everyone is assuming for some reason that all 3 of those shadows are pre-evos.

By Erez on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 5:27 PM

Well, it’s kind of obvious that the middle shadow is a Sudowoodo pre-evo.

I hope the other two are new. (Or at least evos and not pre-evos, though I doubt it. They look too tiny).

By Arty2 on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 6:44 PM

The first one looks like it’s made of lava… or slime…

The second one looks like a radish or half a Sudowoodo, the rock plant grows!

And the thrid one looks like those strange Mayan/Aztec statues witht he spooky eyes.

Oh well, why speculate, we are surely going to see them soon.

By PinkDeoxys on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 7:39 PM

When I look at the left one I see Chimecho.

By The HavoX on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 8:34 PM

Okay, I would believe Usohachi IS the pre-evolved form of Sudowoodo.

Why?

First of all, the three-orbs it has are similar to Sudowoodo’s. Secondly, Sudowoodo’s Japanese name is Usokki.

Long story short, Usohachi sounded awfully familiar because of the “Uso” in its name, thus making it a fact that the “hachi” part means something.

Just my two cents

By Raion on Mar. 13th, 2005 at 11:45 PM

I’m getting sick of pre-evos. That’s all Nintendo gave us in the Advance generation that had anything to do with the past generation/s (only Gold/Silver had pre-evos created in R/S).

By Jynxie on Mar. 14th, 2005 at 12:26 AM

Umm..there were only 2. Wynaut and Azurill…I would hardly call that anything to get upset over…

By dCR on Mar. 14th, 2005 at 12:58 AM

i thought someone said hachi meant “pot”… and i can definitely see the pot with the tree sticking up

By pokemonfan on Mar. 14th, 2005 at 3:22 AM

If you look closely at the pokemon at the left you notice theres 2 lines. Those look like wings. So it probably is a bug pokemon. But it also has ahorn. So to me it looks like a pre evo of a pokemon with wings and horn thats a bug pokemon then i noticed that theres a pokemon with wings and a horn wich is hercross. The middle definently looks like sudwoodo and the one at the right looks like a fighting pokemon with a big head and it looks phscic to me then i remembered of a pokemon like that wich is meditate. So thats my comment.

By dCR on Mar. 14th, 2005 at 3:28 AM

also, assuming that there are no pikachu short like last time, these are all probably baby or basic types running around looking cute (much like munchlax last time)
